Mini value exercise

Continuing working on values.
Students found it interesting to see values create depth in space.

Cups with values

Before working beginning this assignment, students created a value scale, beginning with zero value to a very dark value.

Students positioned the cups and drew a contour drawing (an outline of the cups).  With the lights off, students observed the values on the cups.  We aimed for the cups to be at least 4 inches in height and using at least 4 values.
  

6th grade completed an assignment on Expressive and Directional lines.
We took face images from magazines and organized a VARIETY of lines around the face.
