WINDING 1 PT. PERSPECTIVE
This week we began our final major project. I have added the Power Point slides we covered in class as well as students work in progress.
I saw this idea years ago from a website and thought I'd give it a try but changed some of the objectives.

WORDY PENCIL DRAWING
1 POINT PERSPECTIVE
Yesterday students viewed a Power Point on One Point Perspective Drawing then discussed what was a vanishing point, orthogonal lines and parallel lines.
Students practiced on a front and back sheet of Geometric shapes in one point perspective, shown below.
Today students will begin drawing their name or last name in Block Letters (it may not be less than three letters). The letters must be at least 3 inches tall. Then create a one point perspective drawing of the letters. They will finish it by applying values using color pencils.

OPTICAL ILLUSIONS
6th grade are finishing a series of Optical Illusions inspired by artist such as Victor Vasarely and Bridget Riley.
Our final optical illusion assignment inspired by Bridget Riley art "Blaze"

The objective was to create lines drawn close together repeatedly to give the illusion of movement. Students achieved this by drawing a line design on a piece of cardboard, cutting it out and tracing the lines closely together.

Celebrate the Arts
Students who brought a poster board at the beginning of the year, used it as their portfolio to hold all the art work they did throughout the school year. It wasn't mandatory but it helps the student and myself to assess their work through the year.
It's always interesting to hear remarks like "we did this so long ago" or " if I were to do that again I would of done this differently" I love listening to these observations out loud. Students also gained knowledge how to give a successful Art Critique by Describing, Analyzing, Interpreting then Evaluating an art piece. This is a quality that most were amazed to discover that some students don't begin to do this until they take a college Art class.
I am proud of each an every one of them.
Below are just a few student artwork and mediums students worked on through the year.
